"Known by her Reception Class parents as Snow White, Lucie is an Early Years Foundation Stage specialist teacher. What she doesn’t know about teaching and learning in the Early Years is not worth knowing!"
My name is Lucie and I am a Qualified Teacher and Early Years Specialist. I trained at the Institute of Education and taught in London, where I became Head of a wonderful Pre-Prep in Roehampton. In 2017, I married and moved to Cambridge, where I was Head of Early Years at the Perse Pelican; here I continued to fine tune my knowledge of early years education (we never stop learning...!).
In September 2018, we moved to the east coast of Scotland to take over the running of my husband’s family farm. I too was brought up farming, so this was a dream come true and only a stone’s throw from my University town of St Andrews, which holds a special place in my heart. My passion for Early Years Education did not waver with my change of location, it grew stronger with the arrival of my two sons and daughter! I have relished creating the same bustle of engaging, powerful play that I sought to create in my classrooms, in my own home.
Powerful Play was launched in March; born out of my passion for engaging early years children (both at home and in the classroom) in engaging and open-ended play that supports their all-round development. Being a parent of a young child is an enormous privilege, but it is also challenging. My educational products provide parents and carers of pre-school children with high quality, professional tools, to help them ‘Plan, Play and Treasure’ their children’s earliest years of learning… no more trawling through the internet searching and screen shotting play ideas, with a bouncing baby under one arm and an abandoned toy under the other!
I am currently launching two new services; ‘Dial-a-teacher’ (your own Early Years Specialist, ready to guide you through your child’s most formative years) and the Powerful Play ‘Play Club’ (an online Membership page, with developmentally appropriate play ideas, using household objects).
For those that I have worked with me or follow me on Instagram, you will know that my children stand at the heart of Powerful Play. I am often asked by parents if my children can play independently because I am a teacher; all children are capable of playing independently. Similarly, all children are born curious and creative. By engaging our children in powerful play, we are sowing the seeds for their future, giving them skills that will help them become successful life-long learners whilst making memories that they will treasure forever.
Whether you are a proud new parent cradling your baby or looking at your child wondering where the last four years went as they embark on their first year of school, then I would love you to join the Powerful Play journey.
